And one more haiku for this very special day:
Cordy came into the world
Pissed off and screaming
…and little has changed. But that’s why I love her.
Join the haiku fun!
Tales of one woman stumbling her way through motherhood.
And one more haiku for this very special day:
…and little has changed. But that’s why I love her.
Join the haiku fun!
Husband snores loudly
Cat meows, Mira kicks me
My nighttimes lack sleep
Now it is silent
Finally I fall asleep
BEEP BEEP BEEP! Shoot me.
Eyes show weariness
The curse of the light sleeper
Coffee fills the void
Thanks to those who played along last week – can’t wait to see this week’s crop of haiku! If you want to join us this week, click the button above for all of the details.
I had to laugh at the study. Any parent could tell you that a toddler can watch a person complete a task, like opening a cookie container, and copy the actions. OK, we probably aren’t so good at telling you how a monkey would respond, but we know how smart toddlers are.
What they didn’t reveal in the study is the likelihood that the toddler will do said task when you’re not watching, at the most inopportune time, or perform a task you really didn’t want them to copy. Like flipping someone the bird.
The haiku gives a beat to the picture, I think. If you could only see the full dance being done as she kicks and splashes around. I call it her Aqua Boogie. She does the same dance on land, too, but it doesn’t have the full effect unless she’s kicking water up in the air.
Today is the PBN dance blog blast sponsored by Baby Loves Disco. They’re giving away some Stride Rite shoes, and with the speed Cordy’s feet are growing, the kid needs more shoes. If you want to participate, click here. You have until midnight tonight.
And if you like haiku? Jennifer and I are starting a weekly Haiku Friday. Feel free to share a haiku in our comments, or (even better) write all or part of your Friday post in haiku form to play along.
Edited to add: L.A. Daddy has pointed out that they have now invented moving pictures (I don’t think it’ll catch on). I can’t afford a waterproof camera, though, and I’m not risking my Sony anywhere near my daughter when water is involved. However, I did look back through my files and found this video, just to make Mr. Smartass happy. (nothin’ but love, dude!)
Here’s a blast from the past, complete with lousy videography! Give her some legwarmers and she’d be Flashdance-ready!
Sure, writing about the weather is usually as exciting as writing about what you had for lunch, but have you stepped outside lately? It’s going to be close to 100 here today, with plenty of humidity thrown in to provide that genuine thick, heavy air Midwestern experience. Meanwhile, less than a hundred miles away from me, several towns in Ohio, like Findlay, are still underwater and trying to bail out. With a small shift in the storm pattern, that could have been us.
Then there’s earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes in greater strength or frequency, as if Mother Earth is trying to shake us off like we’re fleas? I’m hoping for a quiet, pleasant fall, but the lead in doesn’t looking promising so far.
Anyone want to join me in writing about their day in haiku today? As mine shows, they don’t have to be good.
